Get a Taste of New York Magazine
Did you ever wonder why the Momofuku pork buns are so ubiquitious? Or how DiFara got such a following? Or how the little bagel spot that you have loved for years suddenly has a line out the door? Chances are it is because of New York Magazine’s annual “Best Of” list that includes the best sandwiches, pizzas, tasting menus, and everything else food-oriented. These people clearly know food, and this is your chance to try their favorites. Get out the stretchy pants, and pick up your fork: it is time for New York Magazine’s annual event, Taste.
This evening, proceeds of which go towards City Harvest (a food rescue organization that works with many of the city’s top restaurants to provide hungry citizens with daily food), features dishes and drinks form over 40 of New York City’s finest chefs and restaurants. Tickets go for $175 or $250 for VIP access, which includes early access to the event, a VIP gift bag (filled with valuable cooking equipment and tasty treats), and access to the VIP lounge (in previous years, it has included complimentary champagne, ample seating for when you need to rest your tired feet, and exclusive catering from Tao and Lavo.)
This year’s extravaganza will be held at The Waterfront, a first-time venue for the affair. What does your ticket price get you? How about food from the likes of Dan Barber, Missy Robbins, Masaharu Morimoto, Jonathan Benno, and Marcus Samuelsson? How about drinks from The Clover Club and Booker and Dax? Treats last year included Red Curry Pumpkin Veloute with Salt Cod Chantilly from Corton, scotch eggs from Le Caprice, oysters with pomegranate from Kefi, and more. And don’t forget: you won’t just be eating food from these famous chefs, but they will be preparing if tor you and serving it to you.
Between the elegant cocktails and reverie that is sure to occur, don’t expect to bring the kids–everyone who attends must be at least 21 years old. So, get a sitter for the kids, get a cab for yourself, and taste some of the best that NYC has to offer.
