The Santa Monica Food Truck Lot

The Santa Monica Food Truck LotIf you needed another reason to ramble aimlessly through the beach-infused Main Street of Santa Monica, here’s one, and it happens weekly: The Tuesday night Food Truck Lot.

A gathering of 10 or so rotating food trucks every Tuesday, the event goes down weekly from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Ocean Park Blvd. and Main St. outside of The Victorian Hotel in Santa Monica. Parking is free at the California Heritage Museum next door, and there’s even free bicycle valet.

When you just can’t take anymore tacos, hot dogs, or kimchee, walk two steps over to the Basement Tavern for a digestif and a swank chill-out session.

The Food Truck Lot has been happening weekly since October 2010, with an impressive roster of local food trucks including Frysmith, Green Truck, Ludo Truck, and Coolhaus.

Stay in touch with the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot on Facebook and Twitter so you know which trucks will be present each week. Though, with a zero-dollar entry fee and the free bike valet, we see no reason not to pop by if you’re out for an evening beach jaunt anyways.

And don’t forget to visit Main Street every Sunday morning for the weekly farmers market in Heritage Square, held at 2640 Main St. From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday, the square fills with local vendors and bands (often bluegrass, folk, and jazz)—plus the obligatory petting zoo for the kiddos.
