Sprinkles Cupcakes Releases 24-Hour Cupcake ATM
It’s been dubbed “the progenitor of the haute cupcake craze” by the Los Angeles Times, and Food Network calls it “the world’s first cupcake bakery.” It’s Beverly Hills’ own Sprinkles Cupcakes, and it’s just released the world’s first automated cupcake vending machine.
Yes, you read that right: cupcake vending machine.
Officially “open” as of last week, Sprinkles’ new cupcake automats are open 24 hours a day, located next to their flagship shop in Beverly Hills. You can get cupcakes, yes, but even cupcake mixes, clothing, and doggie treats to go (it is Beverly Hills, after all).
Sprinkles has plans to release additional cupcake machines in major cities throughout the country over the course of the next year—not to mention a slew of new machines right here in L.A.
How do they do it? Keep fresh cupcakes stocked on a constant basis in ATM-like machines? The secret is not yet released, but we have visions of miniature elves running cupcakes the size of their bodies back and forth from the bakery to the machines. It’s probably just a pipe dream. Nonetheless, Sprinkles will be restocking the cupcakes day and night with freshly baked flavors (even if they aren’t delivered by magic cupcake elves).
We recently did a live video cupcake test of local cupcakeries, and Sprinkles was hot on our list. Check out our video review of their gluten-free red velvet cupcake right here (Warning: you may get the serious munchies).
We’re thinking that these 24-hour cupcake machines, if placed strategically adjacent to Redbox machines in the city, could make for some serious couch-surfing nights. And that wouldn’t be the worst thing.
In addition, Sprinkles is opening an ice cream shop next to its Beverly Hills location. Seriously—can this get any better?
